Blue Coin

A term that refers to going first in a match.

A holdover term from the days of Gwent's Beta (when the coin was color-coded to show which player was in control of the current turn), the Blue Coin simply means that the player in question is acting first in the first round of the match. In contrast, the Red Coin refers to a player who acts second in the first round.

This is also often referred to as "losing the coin flip," as there are risks associated with going first (such as losing the round with the same number of cards in hand as the opponent) and the player must provide several plays without sufficient targets on their own board or the opponent's board.
