Special thanks to Gnurrgard for inspiring this project by sharing his knowledge on CCG theory and giving us continued feedback.

The system Gwent uses to balance deckbuilding and leaders.

Each card in the game is assigned a recruit cost, commonly known as provision cost, that it costs to put into a Constructed deck. Currently these costs range between 4 and 15. When a card is added to a deck, its recruit cost contributes to the deck’s recruit cap, leaving a player with limited space in their deck.

Recruit cost is an important balancing mechanism for Gwent. Controlling the number of points a card provides for its provision cost defines how efficient a card is and therefore how likely it is to be played.
