Special thanks to Gnurrgard for inspiring this project by sharing his knowledge on CCG theory and giving us continued feedback.
In MMOs, meta was originally an abbreviation for “Most Effective Tactics Available.” While it is no longer thought of as an acronym, the use of the words remains the same. In Gwent, and TCGs and CCGs in general, the meta refers to a definition of what works well with the game in its current state and what does not. The strongest deck types, archetypes and tech choices are said to be the meta, whereas cards that do not see play are said to be weak in the current meta.
The meta evolves as game developers balance or add to the game, and as players continue to discover new synergies and archetypes or specific deck builds that work well competitively.
Team Aretuza's Meta Snapshot tracks the strongest decks and archetypes in the current meta.
