Player Spotlight: Tailbot

Damian “TailBot” Kaźmierczak

Hi Tailbot. Thanks for allowing us to have this interview with you. How are you and what have you been up to in Gwent?

Hello. Pleasure is on my side. I'm doing good. I've been trying my best to qualify for official tournaments and just having fun with the game.

What are your thoughts on the Master Mirror expansion so far?

The expansion had a lot of balance problems at the start, but it got a lot better after some tweaks. I'm enjoying it a lot right now and I like Master Mirror overall from a design point of view.

What are changes or things that you looked forward to that did not make it or that did not happen with this expansion?

I was hoping for a Tailbot card. It didn't happen so my wait continues.

What things that you didn’t expect surprisingly made it to the expansion?

I was surprised by the amount of balance changes to old cards that came with the expansion.

What are your thoughts on Master Mirror release SK, hotfix SK, and the very recent nerf to SK?

I think Master Mirror release SK is a strong contender for the most broken deck we have had in homecoming. Right now after all the nerfs it feels balanced and in line with other factions.

How is your ladder experience so far since the Master Mirror expansion? What do you think are the strongest factions right now and the reason behind that?

I didn't play that much yet since the last balance patch. It's pretty hard to point out the strongest factions for me atm.

What changes would you suggest to make the weaker factions a bit better?

I would like to see the Harmony nerf reverted.

What changes (nerfs, buffs, reworks, etc.) would you like to see in the near future?

The most important thing would be removal of artifact removal and reworks/nerfs to current artifacts.

Since you qualified for the upcoming Gwent Open, do you have any predictions on decks and lineups, bans, etc.?

Of course I have some predictions. I would rather not share it for obvious reasons and things are still about to change after qualifiers when the meta stabilizes more.

With a long break until Masters happening and several players being less active, what do you expect of your competition?

I hope my competition is not gonna be slacking as I need some worthy opponents. Victory feels better when matches are close.

How does your experience in Masters season 2 compare to Masters season 1?

I enjoy playing ladder more in season 2 due to changes like hidden names and because I don't need to tryhard to secure the top 1 spot every season. On the other side I dislike playing in qualifiers and there are a lot of them.

Next open, Shaggy will be one of seven other players you might face. How do you feel about the chance of playing him again?

I like that the new tournament system gave a chance of qualifing to players that I never heard about before.

Did the coronavirus affect your life as an esports athlete? If so, how?

I definitely have more time now for athletic activities in front of my computer.

Do you have any message to the Gwent community?

I want to say that I appreciate the Gwent community and hope it's going to stay wholesome!

The meta has still not settled since the release of Version 7.1. CDPR has implemented another hotfix to Skellige a week after the season has started to further tone it down. With this, all the factions are now on a more even playing field which makes the game feel fresh. Good luck on the ladder climb!

Luis

Luis has been a gamer for most of his life. His first console was a Playstation 1 which he got at age 7. A few years later, he acquired a Gameboy Advance that became his gateway to the Pokemon series. He spent multiple hours playing through the Kanto and Hoenn Region with his friends. In 2011, he started playing Dota 1 and was his entry to the MOBA genre of games. Shortly after, he started playing League of Legends which he played from 2012 to 2017. Towards the end of the year 2017, he bought a Playstation 4 and played Destiny 2 and a few single player games on the side such as God of War, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Witcher 3 which he enjoyed the most. His first exposure to Gwent was back in Witcher 3. He realized that he was spending most of his time playing Gwent and collecting all the cards instead of doing side quests and story quests. Fast forward to 2019, he found out that Gwent, the standalone game, would be released on iOS. On the release day itself last October, he immediately downloaded the game and chose Northern Realms as his first faction since this is the faction he played the most back in Witcher 3 Gwent.
