Team Aretuza is excited to announce the second annual Gwent World Cup, which will run from May 17th to May 30th.  We have invited nine countries to compete based on Crown Points, and are additionally hosting an open qualifier on May 2nd for the 10th and final slot.  Below, you will find the most important details about the event.

Foreword

Welcome to the home page of the Gwent World Cup!  Last year, we had an amazing turnout for our piloting World Cup tournament, where Austria narrowly came out on top as our first World Champions.  

This year, World Cup is coming back bigger and better than ever before, with dates as follows:
Qualifier: May 2nd
Group Stage: May 17th-21st, May 24th-28th
Playoffs: May 29th-30th

The finals of the qualifier will be casted live, as well as one match per day from Group Stage and the entirety of Playoffs.  Stay tuned for the announcement of our official casting team!

If you are interested in forming a national team and participating in our qualifier, please take a look at our official qualifier ruleset.

Please note that the following countries are not permitted to enter the qualifiers, as they already have a team in the main event:
Austria, Poland, Russia, Germany, China, Ukraine, Japan, UK, Italy

After reading our rules and ensuring that your country is eligible, you may use this google form to register a team of 3 players for our qualifiers by April 28th, 23:59 CEST.

Ceely Ceely is Aretuza Member

Ceely is a 22-year-old from Finland with a hearty hankerin' for Gwent. She found the game through her love for the Witcher universe. Not having played any CCGs before, she was sceptical, but instantly fell in love with Gwent when she first played the game in its Open Beta version. She currently plays Gwent in Pro Rank, where she is continuously looking to learn and improve her gameplay. Ceely feels like she's in her element while streaming. That's when she gets to know new amazing people and their interests while playing a game she truly enjoys. She is fluent in Finnish, Swedish and English and enjoys learning about languages and different cultures in general. If you decide to stop by her stream, make sure to say hi and have a good time! In September 2020, Ceely began an additional role as PR and Social Media Manager for Team Aretuza.

Elis Elis is Aretuza Member

Elis is a graphic designer in her early 20s, hailing from the Czech Republic. She graduated with a degree in Graphics and Art and has been involved in art and design since her childhood. A coincidence led her to the Witcher saga, and the Witcher saga led her to Gwent, and what she might lack in experience, she compensates for with passion for playing and learning the game. Within the team, she aims to create a visual presence that is united, branded and very much "Aretuza".

Santtu2x

Santtu2x Santtu2x is Aretuza Member

Santtu2x is a 22-year-old economics student from Finland. He first started Gwent during the closed beta, but only started playing at a competitive level in early 2018. While he has reached some good ladder finishes, Santtu2x is at his strongest in a tournament environment. In addition to winning many online tournaments, his achievements include placing 2nd in European Gwent Cup LAN event and reaching finals in Gwent Open #7 qualifiers. What is still missing is an appearance in an official Gwent Masters tournament, which he will seek to achieve in Gwent Masters season 2.
